The World Bank commissioned Transport for Cairo to map the public transport network of central and inner Cairo, completing the work in two months of mobilisation and three months of field mapping. The team performed a full district-by-district scan of the Greater Cairo Region to locate formal and informal terminals and identify the trips operating from each, digitised the raw survey data, built a network of virtual stops, and produced GIS and GTFS datasets from the processed data. The final dataset was quality-assured, documented, released under an open licence and made publicly available.
