Transdev, Orascom Construction and Mwasalat Misr commissioned Transport for Cairo, alongside Transamo, to assess the feasibility of a bus rapid transit (BRT) system on Cairo’s Ring Road. The study established the demand case for the corridor and the practical terms on which the existing paratransit network could be brought into it.

The scope of work covered:

• passenger demand assessment surveys along the corridor
• estimation of the range of expected traffic during peak hours
• review of the paratransit transition, from the current situation to a feeder system serving the BRT
